WAR

Here Banksy's use of satire and juxtaposition of images is used to emphasize the absurdity of war in an attempt to persuade his viewer through both logos and pathos. By contrasting highly recognizable images of war and militarization with those of innocence represented by children and/or flowers, Banksy is calling upon his audience to find a more rational discourse than violence can provide. A compassionate and logical audience could of course be counted on to want to protect such innocence from the horrors of war.

Over the years many artists have also effectively used Visual Rhetoric to bring attention to the devastation created by war. In Pablo Picasso's masterpiece, Guernica, Picasso sought to enrage his viewers with primitive images of death and despair.
